Wish (Hope) + Actor Sol Kung-gu Q&A

Based on the tragic crime that shook Korea in 2008, Wish, tells the story of a family that tries to deal with the rape of their youngest daughter. Though the film has drawn criticism for the possible motives behind the film, the end result won over audience and critics for its focus on the family drama, heartfelt emotion and feel good message.

Luckily the film is directed by Lee Joon-ik (Battlefield Heroes, Blades of Blood), one of Korea’s great, but possibly underrated, filmmakers and acted by the superb SolKyung-gu and Lee Re as the film’s title character.Sol Kyung-gu is a multi award winning actor who has starred in some of Korea’s best films including the Public Enemy series, Lee Chang-dong’s Peppermint Candy andOasis, Haeundae (Tidal Wave) and A Petal which was the actor’s debut feature.
